Any bus routes from New Jersey to Staten Island and Brooklyn? Looking for quickest public transportation route

Hi I'm in Central New Jersey Looking to get to Coney Island. The only route Ive found from NJ involves going to the Port Authority Bus Station and would take a few hours. Couch USA has a route but the earliest is 3 something in the afternoon. Seems like there must be a way but I'm new to the Public Transportaion here. Thanks!

1. the only thing I could think of is take the path trains to the World Trade Center (Ground Zero) and take the R train at Fulton Street to Coney Island
