Does anyone know which bus routes are going to be cut in the Chicago Transit Authority Dooms Day Scenario?

- A bunch. And there isn't just one "doomsday." There are the November cuts a week away (mostly express routes) and another in January (MUCH more frightening---major routes will be eliminated). This information can be found in any local newspaper, newspaper website, or the CTA website (http://yourcta.com). To view the January 2008 cuts, see the PDF on the CTA page for the 2008 budget. There is one page in there that has a chart listing all the routes that will likely be cut in January. While you're there, you might want to click the link to email your legislators to prevent further cuts to the CTA. A lot of us are going to suffer when these cuts go into effect --- old, young, disabled, poor, middle-class, etc.
- I believe the first one is Nov 3rd ANd then there will be another that will cut almost half the bus services in Janauary if there is no long term deal reached
- Each of the agencies that is planning on making cuts on Sunday has the information on their web pages through obvious links on the home page: http://transitchicago.com/ http://pacebus.com/ The lists are long, unfortunately. http://www.rtachicago.com/ has the information for November 4 for both lines right on the homepage, but not the future cuts on January 6 that will be much worse. Pace's second round of cutbacks is even sooner, on December 3. Metra is not going to be doing anything in the near term, but they've indicated that in the next year or so they will have to do something also without new sources of funding. After you find out, get hold of the governor's office, your state rep, your state senator, and the mayor's office. Let them know that when this happens they will suffer the consequences; and then at the next election, vote them all out. If you need to figure out your state reps, you can do so here: http://www.elections.il.gov/DistrictLocator/SelectSearchType.aspx?NavLink=1
- In addition to the sites that have been referenced, let me add the grassroots website called http://www.savechicagotransit.com which not only details the routes that will be cut over the next few months but also ways in which you could get in touch with your legislators and voice your concerns....as well as the times and locations of various rallies in the area.
- Some people have already given you the links to the various websites and all I know is that 82 will be cut. That really sucks!
