  1. http://www.lothianbuses.co.uk/ Have a look here:)
  2. Buses in Edinburgh are operated by Lothian Buses their website is http://www.lothianbuses.co.uk/ also First operate services their website site is http://www.firstgroup.com/index.php The road up to the castle is to narrow for buses but if you go to the tourist information centre at Waverley Railway Station they should be able to help you. Have a nice time in Edinburgh
  3. it will depend on which Grove street there are two, one is in the Dalry area and the other is in the Fountainbridge area. Both of them are about one and half miles from the castle and the walk to the castle would actually be quicker than taking the bus and a lot more pleasureable as you would be able to take in the scenery and the local shops. having said that there is no direct bus service from either to the castle so it would mean getting a bus to Princes Street and changing buses at the Mound anyway.
  4. Grove Street is within easy walking distance of the Castle - about 20-30 minutes, and a very nice walk. There are no direct buses to the castle, and you would need to go past the castle, change buses and come back (2, then 41/42). There is at least one hotel at the Fountainbridge end of Grove Street - if that's where you're staying then you go up to Fountainbridge, turn left, along to Lothian Road, and then either along Castle Terrace/Johnston Terrace, or down to the Grassmarket (more shops and cafes but you have more climbing at the end).
