1. there is a reliable, govt-operated taxi service; you can take a cab to the Koyambedu bus terminus, which is the largest bus terminus in Chennai. If you are coming in by train to Chennai, there is now an operational pre-paid auto counter outside the station, and you can get an auto to the bus terminus. Buses to Mahabs are very frequent, so even if you miss one, there should be another one in 45 mins/ an hour. The private ones are usually more comfortable, though even the govt has started some deluxe buses now. Alternatively, you can also take a cab directly to Mahabs from the airport - much more expensive of course.
