What is wrong with my Italian Greyhound?
He has been scratching his ears a lot lately. They are clean but really red inside. He has been treated for fleas and ticks on a regular basis. He only scratches his ears I haven't used anything to clean his ears but my clean finger to wipe out a little spot every now and then. What do we do?

- Ear mites? There are more parasites than just fleas and ticks. If there is no smell- then you could treat it yourself. Just go to your local pet store and buy some ear drops. Treat both ears exactly as it tells you to.
- it could be ear mites, he needs to see the vet
- Mites are a possibility. You're going to want to phone your vet at the least. A visit in might be necessary.
- Dog can get yeast infections in there ears
- Just because his ears look clean, doesn't always mean that he doesn't have some sort of infection such as yeast. He will need an ear cytology at the Vet's office to know for sure.
- Could be ear mites, a wax build up, or it could be an yeast infection. It would be best to have your vet take a look and find out for sure. He can then tell you the best way to treat it.
- He could have a ear infection. My dog had middle ear infection for a long time...you might wanna take him to the vet to rule out that possibility. It is a waxy deposit deep inside the ear that might go unnoticed. Dont let him scratch too much else it might get him wounded. Take care
- IT SOUNDS LIKE EAR MITES you can buy earmite medicine at wal-mart or a dollar store or feed store such as tractor supply
- He probably has an ear infection. This is what my dog had when he had the same symptoms. You'll need to get medicine from the vet. I doubt he has ear mites, if he did you would see them, look like black "dirt"
- I like the look of a greyhound. They are so cute.
