What is the legal distance a school bus stop can be from child's home?
Public Comments
- there is no law that sets a distance, each district sets their own guidelines.
- It depends on the school district and how many parents complain. My children's bus stop is less than an 1/8 of a mile from their school (would normally be considered walkers), but since they would need to cross a busy street without a cross walk they are bused.
- Its not mandated by any law i know of. however, if you contact your local transportation dept, they can tell you their guidelines. where i live they try to make the stops no further than a quarter mile from home.
