Why is it that I've never seen bus stops or streetcar stops located on top of a bridge?

Like an overpass over the freeway, for example, why does the bus go from one end of the bridge to the other and not stop in the middle? Even if it is, say pretendingly, more convenient to stop in the middle? Have you seen a bus stop right on top of the bridge?

1. Most states have law that state that vehicles cannot legally stop on bridges due to many factors also many bridges do not have sidewalks across them so it would be very unsafe for pedestrians to be on them.
2. Yes, I have. The buses in Houston coming from the near NW side cross into town on a bridge that intersects another bridge right next to the main post office. The buses stop there to allow passengers off. This stop is in the middle of the bridge. If the overpass is over a freeway and there are no intersections, how could it be more convenient to stop in the middle? Stopping at either end clearly makes more sense, unless someone wants to swan dive onto the highway or waterway below. This is a clear reason why buses wouldn't stop there.
