  1. Don't lose sight of the big picture here honey. They don't want their drivers engaging in idle conversation and not paying attention to traffic. The examples you cite are, I am sure, okay. And keep in mind that whatever is "unnecessary" is certainly in the eye of the beholder.
  2. You would not get a ticket or arrested. That is necessary conversation.
  3. here's what is says on the San Francisco Metro "information gladly given but safetly requires avoiding unnecssary conversation" Its all about safety hon, and no you wont get a ticket or get arrested, but the operator has to keep his eyes and mind on the road and no chit chat.
  4. No ticket, but it just means don't make small talk with the driver, who must concentrate on traffic.
  5. So you want to be responsible for the lives on the bus and other vehicles when you ask the driver how his wife and kids are doing and he slams into a suv with a soccer mom talking in the cell? unless you're sadistic by nature, I really don't think you would like to have the image of all the carnage you caused on your mind for the rest of your life
