- Don't lose sight of the big picture here honey. They don't want their drivers engaging in idle conversation and not paying attention to traffic. The examples you cite are, I am sure, okay. And keep in mind that whatever is "unnecessary" is certainly in the eye of the beholder.
- You would not get a ticket or arrested. That is necessary conversation.
- here's what is says on the San Francisco Metro "information gladly given but safetly requires avoiding unnecssary conversation" Its all about safety hon, and no you wont get a ticket or get arrested, but the operator has to keep his eyes and mind on the road and no chit chat.
- No ticket, but it just means don't make small talk with the driver, who must concentrate on traffic.
- So you want to be responsible for the lives on the bus and other vehicles when you ask the driver how his wife and kids are doing and he slams into a suv with a soccer mom talking in the cell? unless you're sadistic by nature, I really don't think you would like to have the image of all the carnage you caused on your mind for the rest of your life
