Is it safe for kids to be waiting at bus stops in 15 below weather?
I'm not asking because I want to get out of school (well, okay, that would be nice) but seriously, this morning it was -15 F with a -29 F windchill. I'm in high school and it was enough to make me want to stay inside! Shouldn't the district consider cancelling school on these days- after all small children are waiting at bus stops in this weather!

- its really not safe, but the school district often presumes things like you'll wear a huge coat to stay warm (one that wont fit in your locker) or your guardians with wait in the car with you - or wait in the house. call up your school district and let them know. you can call 411 and ask for the number.
- No, it's not safe. Breathing in aire that is that cold and dry can lead to pneumonia and other respiratory ailments. For safety, have your kids hold a scarf to their mouth to breathe through that. I don't think school should be cancelled but the school should send home instructions on how to keep your kids protected in those temps.
- Here's a website the superintendent in my district uses to determine danger of windchills: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/windchill/index.shtml
