Taking a Van to Mexico?

My husband is planning a trip to mexico in a couple of weeks. We tried to get the van registered on line. It stopped us by saying that he already has a vehicle registered there and it needs to be closed. This vehicle was left there because it broke down while he was there ans so he had to bring the bus back. How can we get this vehicle off the registration records? It has been about 8 years since it was registered. You guys are not cool. My husband is going (and 3 of our kids) to Mexico to spend the holidays with his family. I choose not to go because I don't like it there. He went last year, but my older son drove thru the border, so he had no problem with the registration. My son can't go this year, so we are just trying to get information on how to get the vehicle registered so they are able to go. No smuggling of anything involved, the only thing he brings back besides what he took is a few bottles of tequila, which of course, he pays tax for.

  6. This is extremely difficult to deal with. He should have turned in the permit he got for that van when he left the country back then. Now, he is going to have a heck of a time convincing them he did not sell it in Mexico. Only hope is to GO to the nearest Mexican Consulate and talk to them. He may end up paying a fee for not having proof the car was wrecked and not having the permit to turn in.
