Can I Use My Original Greyhound Bus ticket on a later bus without paying a fee?

Next month I'm taking a 12:10 bus out of Newark, NJ to Nashville, TN via Richmond, VA. However, if that bus fails to make the connection in Richmond for the 8:30pm departure, the next bus scheduled from Richmond, VA to Nashville is the 11:45pm bus. Unfortunately, that bus requires another transfer in order to get to Nashville. Therefore, I am assuming that IF I miss the connecting bus in Richmond due to my first bus being late, I'll be able to still use my original ticket on the next bus since my final destination isn't changing even though it requires an additional transfer? Am I assuming correctly? Thank you very much for your help, so my trip can be as smooth as possible.

  1. Probably it won't matter, if its a matter of missing the connection. Especially if it follows the same route, but just involves an extra transfer. So long as you don't change the destination. You can change the route of a full-price ticket for free, and a 1-week advance (except for destination) for $10, so at worst that's what you'd have to pay, but probably not.
