What is the best tour bus in Washington DC?
Anyone have any suggestions with tour bus company in this city? I'm only going to be in town for one day and want to see all of the big tourist sites. Also, is there any place to park my car that is easily accessible to any of the tour bus starting points? Any other good tips for the city (espeically money-saving ones!)? Any info. is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

- Tourmobile - off and on privileges and it goes into Arlington approx $25-30 runs all day http://www.cheap-fun-family-travel.com/index.html
- If you only have one day, then Tourmobile is the MUST DO! It takes you efficiently everywhere you need to go. You will still need to do a little work to winnow out what you can compress into an 8 hour visit. The beauty is sitting on the tourmobile while they describe the sights of the area and you can get on/off as you deem. As for a good starting point, answer always is..it depends. Metro is the most efficient way to get into the city, particularly early in the morning on a work day. Parking, however, has become difficult at the regions outer metro stations. If you can take Metro...then follow the directions to the Smithsonian exit. If you must drive approaching from the south, I believe the most efficient place to drive and park is the Arlington Cemetery visitor center where you can get tickets to the tourmobile directly in the center. If from the north, park in the Union Station parking lot. Tickets may be purchased there. Otherwise, you can obtain tourmobile tickets at the Washington Monument kiosk. Hope this helps!
- no idea....sorry
- I agree with Tour Mobile. You can get on and off, the guides are OK, and my out of town guests seem to enjoy it. I've been on it too many times to find the jokes funny, but they hit all of the important places, are clean, good value, etc. They are the only ones who have access to Arlington, which also has a parking lot. If you are visiting DC in the heat, you will want to bus tour through Arlington. But my favorite FUN tour is the DC Ducks. That's at Union Stations. If you don't want to do the Ducks, there is also the Old Town Trolleys. This is the same as any other cities. And you can buy a each tour separately, or as a combo. Both start at Union Station, which has a parking lot and a lot of good restaurants. Eat at Subway and bring some snacks. DC food is expensive, and then we have 10% sales tax. There is a food court at Union Station. The food there is pretty good.
