how do you find the list of licensed chartered buses in your state?

we need to know if an old church bus that they want to charter to the school for an out of state trip is legal for us to use. if the school and/or the church will be covered if God forbid there is an accident.

1. I would call your state Transportation office, they can help you out with this situation
2. Companies are required to be registered with The Department of Transportion(DOT) to do charter business. The DOT requires these companies to must specific guidelines for maintenance and insurance. Ask for a copy of their commercial insurance and request your group be listed on their policy. This is a fairly standard practice bus companies provide--especially for schools.
