Toronto at night lol?

Not to sound like a country boy scared of the big city, but I have never walked through Toronto at night before. My friend and I are going to see Thrice tomorrow at the Kool Haus, and the only way back that works in with our schedule is the Greyhound Bus at 11:30pm. But it's at 610 Bay Street, near Ryerson University. This means walking like 3 kilometres late at night. I just want to know, when traveling around downtown at that time of night on a Friday, are there enough people about that you won't get hassled, or should I be vaguely concerned? I walk around downtown London, ON at 2 am all the time and never really worry, and like cities a lot, but Toronto has gained quite a reputation lately. Any help is greatly appreciated. Ah, the bus is at 10:30, my bad. There is also Via leaving Union at 10

  1. There's nothing to fear when walking around Toronto on a Friday night. There will be hundreds of people around....
  2. The areas you will be in will usually be quiet filled with people especially on a weekend night. There will also be your fellow concert goers who will be walking around towards the subway or other places. You may run into some homeless people but its your choice to give money or not. You can keep walking if you like. You just have to be alert. I dont listen to my iPod at night for example (but I am usually alone and am a female). And I only take it off when I enter a side street, not when Im on Yonge Street. There's a lot of people there. Bay Street at night can be a bit empty but still I dont think there should much to worry about. If you really get worried just hail a cab or hop on the TTC (www.ttc.ca) And this is Toronto...far larger than London, ON so of course issues of crime are going to be higher...the more the people and all. Oh and personally I would go with the Via Train...I like trains myself and I like Union station (Im there quiet often lol). Have a fun and safe time at the concert.
  3. Usually it would depend on the area in Downtown Toronto that u r walking through at night. Bay street is fine. The area near Ryerson U is always have people walking through the streets 24/7. It's completly normal to be scared, Toronto is a huge city. I lived in Toronto for most of my life, and i'm still afraid when i walk the streets of downtown Toronto late in the night. It's safest if u r walking with a group of friends, one friend should be okay depending on ur age. 3 km is quite long for the night. If u r really worried take the TTC, taxi or the subway. It should be much safer. Don't do anything/listen to anything (e.g ur iPod) that can make u not aware of the things and ppl around u. Hoped i helped in some way!
