Do you have to pay a fee or get a new ticket if you have to take a later Greyhound bus?

Next month I'm taking a 12:10 bus out of Newark, NJ to Nashville, TN via Richmond, VA. However, if that bus fails to make the connection in Richmond for the 8:30pm departure, the next bus scheduled from Richmond, VA to Nashville is the 11:45pm bus. Unfortunately, that bus requires another transfer in order to get to Nashville. Therefore, I am assuming that IF I miss the connecting bus in Richmond due to my first bus being late, I'll be able to still use my original ticket on the next bus since my final destination isn't changing even though it requires an additional transfer? Am I assuming correctly? Thank you very much for your help, so my trip can be as smooth as possible.

1. If you have your ticket it should be honored by the next driver. If you know your gonna miss the next bus, have the driver punch your last ticket. The next driver should honor it.
