Bus Charters Coach Knowledge Base
How much is a class trip to NYC? Hi, I am a senior in high school and last year I founded a fashion club at my school. This year I want for us to raise enough money for a 4 or 5 day trip to NYC, like around manhattan. We are still trying to plan the trip with our sponsor. If we are coming from Raleigh, nc going by charter/coach bus, how much would the overall cost be? Are there any sites that can help?
School bus rental for baltimore/DC area? It's my friends 22nd birthday and we want to rent a school bus for the night. We're leaving from College Park area and going out in Baltimore. I've looked around a little on the internet but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good service - we want a school bus because it will be cheaper, not a limo or coach/charter bus. We're all college students or recent grads so we're on a tight budget! We can probably get 30-40 ppl and we'll be splitting the cost. We're not looking to drive it ourselves - we're looking to have a driver for it, as you would rent a limo. I know it is possible because I have a friend who did it last year - but they don't remember where they rented it from.
Why Is the Media Coverage of the Tea Parties So Over the Top? Tax day in DC. The biggest day on the Tea Party calendar! Chartered coach buses coming in from all over America! Sarah Palin was the key note speaker! Beautiful sunny day, not a cloud in the sky. Freedom Plaza...What could be more appropriate? And how many Tea Partiers were there? About 5,000. The same number that might attend a good football game between two high school rivals. So why was it on the front page of every newspaper in America? (Hey, I thought the mainstream media was supposed to have a liberal bias!)
Working with a charter bus company? Lower Prices vs. Newer Fleet? I've done one charter on a 47 seat coach. Cost me $90 per hour for four hours driving and $30 per hour for six hours waiting, for a total of $540. I sold 46 seats for $30 each on this trip, that's $1380. I ran an ad in a local weekly paper for two weeks and that cost about $100. I put an ad on a local radio station that cost $150 for 15 times played. I made nearly $600 for about 20 hours work. The bus was old but rebuilt (1984). It was OK, but nothing to brag about. This company has two similar buses. Another company I contacted has somewhat newer buses, most 1988-93. They also have a few 45' buses, which seat 55, vs. 40' buses which seat only 47. Some of their buses are 8' wide and some are 8'6" wide. The company I used only has 8' wide buses. The costs with the other company are about 25% higher. The buses are still pretty old, but again rebuilt and look OK. For future trips, what would you choose? Would slightly newer be worth slightly more money?
Has anyone taken a baby on a motor coach without a car seat? My boss reserved a motor coach (luxury bus, more or less) for a company outing in which family is also invited. The problem is that there are no seat belts, so I can't hook up my 8 month old's car seat... Florida law says that car seats aren't required in large charter buses, he's allowed to just sit on our lap. It's not the law I'm worried about, it's my son's safety. Do you think this is safe? I really want to go and be involved with the outing, and a babysitter is not an option. Besides, I want my son with me, it's a family day. Has anyone had any experiences with this? If I end up not feeling comfortable with it, we can drive separately, but I would rather us be part of the group.... Any thoughts?
1 day coach trip from Miami to Busch Gardens??? I'm going to Miami for a holiday in about 4 weeks and really want to go to Busch gardens (I am a massive roller coaster enthusiast). I have been searching for a while for an all inclusive day trip to Busch Gardens from Miami, but so far can only find trips to the Orlando parks. Does anyone know of any companies who run trips? Busch Gardens has by far the best coasters!!! I don't mind taking an independent bus and organizing it all myself too but can only find charter buses for 50 people! Cheers
How do Pro Sports Teams Travel? Bus? Plane? How do pro teams, and all the coaches, trainers, equipment et alia get from city to city? I could see short range bus trips, but say the Red Sox are going to Seattle then Oakland then LA.....commercial jet? charter jet that specializes in flying sports teams? and if by air, is there a special configuration...i.e. 60 business class seats? If not who gets to sit up front and who in the back 6 accross? thanks for the answers so far...but I'd like a little more detail...and yes I understand the Phillies would take a bus to NYC or Washington, or the Tigers a bus to Chicago.....but if a team is traveling by plane....I cant see flying commercial, especially since a baseball game has no time limit...Hello, American? Can you hold the 9:30 flight till whenever we get there? I have reservations for 79..name of Stienbrenner........ SO is there a private company that specializes in this business with extra large seating? Does one plane 'belong' to a team and it sits in the airport during a 3 game series? Or does it drop the Sox in Seattle, take the Giants to New York, pick up KC and take them to LA and then get the Sox and take 'em to Detroit? oh yeah, we all realize A-Rod flies on his inflated ego....
Any tips for cornering a 45' motor coach? After taking a break for a while, I'm a bus driver again, for a charter company, and we only have 45 foot coaches. Yesterday, on my first day, I brushed a fence post, and it left a scrape on the side of the bus. They didn't fire me, and the passengers were understanding that I'm young and inexperienced. Most of my experience has been in 40' coaches, and somehow, really tight intersections have been spared me until now. But, obviously, I need to get this down if I'm going to last. So far, my strategies for making turns have been to allow plenty of space, staying on the far side of the lane or street when possible. However, this isn't going to work everywhere, for instance, in New York City. Which I am terrified at the thought of. Another driver said he raised the tag axle for the turn, but obviously, not something that can be done every time. Besides calming my nerves, and allowing plenty of space, going very slowly around tight turns, what else to you bus-driving vets suggest? Thanks!
Bus fares? What is a good company where I can get a quote to charter 2 coaches, real fast?
Buses from Memphis TN to Dyersburg TN? As the title suggests i'm looking to get a coach/bus from Memphis TN to Dyersburg TN but greyhound don't have any services going that way, does anyone know of any other way to get there (no trains either) or know of any other coach companies similar to greyhound who run to Dyersburg, i've googled coach companies and it only comes back with chartered services. Thanks.
I drive for a living, part-time local, special needs people? Over 2 years ago I asked for this job and got it, they upgraded me to a higher license, an E Class. I do enjoy the runs but not the lack of hours or the bi-weekly pay. Yes I know, I'm glad to be working with so many out of a job. Several weeks ago I happened to do a run with another transportation company. The driver and I had lunch together when we talked about the company he works for. I was impressed and am thinking about putting in my resume. Since that chat I've been promoted, twice with the current bus company. The first offer is office work with odd runs, and special charters. The second promotion is training potential drivers. There hasn't been any talk about pay increase as of yet, but I'd think that would follow. That second promotion takes about a year in training and that's ok. So what do you people think I should do? A little bit on the other job... I would learn how to drive a coach(bus) get my B or C license and travel all over North America, cool I think. The pay is 60 grand a year to 25 grand a year for now but this too would change in time and I'd be close to home, but that's not the deal breaker for me. I'm torn as to what to do. I am single have one cat no dependents. The second job sounds great but is it all that?
How can I be a better bus driver? After a long absence, I'm back in service as a charter driver, operating 45' coaches. Cornering, especially right-hand turns seems to remain a bit of an issue in buses this long. Is there anything I can do besides distancing myself away from the side of the turn, as much as possible, and going slowly around the corner, to avoid contacting curbs, or objects on the side? I'm very aware of what's going on in my mirrors as I turn, but the trouble is, if I see a collision coming, I'm not always sure what to do about it to prevent it. Also, in the event that I do get too close to an object, and need to reverse, do I turn the wheel toward, or away from the object to get away from it? I've never yet figured this out in 1.5 years of CDL driving, most of which was in little shuttle coachettes. Thanks! You have no idea how much grief your answers could save me. I'll be running through some small towns and big cities where there are some tight intersections.
Where can i find my glasses? I got my glasses about 2 months ago....... about 1.5 weeks ago i visited washington D.C. for a field trip...... the last place i saw them was in the national gallery of art ( cafe part) they could probably be there or on the charter bus........... what would be the easiest way to find them....... if i still can p.s. they were not nice glasses but they where in a coach case......so i hope they were not stolen...... :( If i dont find it soon...... i will have 2 but a brand new pair...... that willl cost me about $230 so please helpers!
Port Dickson & Malacca? Is there any supermarket at Seremban (railway station) where we can get some titbits or food before we leave for Port Dickson? I understand tat we can get the coach from Seremban to Port Dickson but do we need to book the tickets in advance and where is the bus terminal? Is it true tat the coach will leave every half an hour? Does it go to The Legend Water Chalets? On next day, we are considering of going to Malacca for some food and sight-seeing before returning to Singapore. Is tis plan feasible? How much and where to get the tickets (by coach)? How long is the journey and wat are the chances for us (5pax) to get the coach ticket back to Singapore in Malacca on the day itself? Lastly, anyone knows where and how much to charter a mini bus/van from Port dickson to malacca to Singapore?
Why do people think I am so weird? For some reason, people think I am crazy. Or mentally retarded. This was the scenario. I was on a six-hour long charter bus to Sarasota with a bunch of high-schoolers to go row in a race. Me and my buddy were 10, so you might think they could be less judgemental. We were passing by a ranch (yes, a ranch in Florida) and I started talking about different breeds of cows, like how Jersey cows were my favorite, etc. THEY MADE FUN OF ME CAUSE I KNEW A LOT ABOUT COWS! I do not come from a farm or ranch thingy place, I just know a lot of different, nearly useless, things. Why do people hate me?Is it specifically related to that? Is it me, or is it them? HELP!!! (They still make fun of me today, even though that was two years ago.) Also, I have a really short temper. A kid took my calculator in math class and I snatched his pencil, stabbed him with the eraser end, and snatched it back. Does that make me crazy?? One more thing. In gym the coaches are really ignorant so if they make a grammatical mistake, I scream at them to let them know how stupid they are being. And I might count my toe touches a little too loudly. (Hey, at least I can do toe-touches.) So is there a specific thing going on that makes people think I am insane? Ya, I'm twelve years old in Seventh grade, and if it helps, im not a geeky nerd kind of person. But then I'm not goth either, In fact, I'm probably the most annoyingly happy person you'll ever meet. So maybe that's another issue? I'm not white (if you mean by originally a European immigrant). I'm actually a really pale Mexican South American, though you can't tell. Anyways, how would you know what I look like? I absolutley adore Sharlatisha-whatever-Jackson's response. :) I'm not a cracker. I wouldn't like to be eaten with salami and cheese, or peanut butter and jelly. (Btw, i <3 your positive feedback) I know a little bit about a lot of things, like proper care for horses (even though I myself have never owned a horse and only rode one once) arsenic poisoning, H1N1, formation of assorted kinds of rocks, just stuff nobody needs to know about often. I make quick decisions of what people are like and hold onto those unless they do something to change my mind, and I tend to socialize well with other people. Unless they are intellectually challenged. And don't have an excuse for it.

Specific answers, if you can....ie the Pats have a 757 that does nothing but fly the team, and has 80% business class seating; the Giants have a 727 that also flys the Yankees or Nets....details like that if you have 'em.......
