I'm looking for a great bus tour company that goes to Florida/Canada/Virginia/ departing from NYC. Any ideas? I once took a vacation bus tour from NYC to Orlando about eight years ago. Does the government have a hold on bus companies? My friend used to work for the public transportation in his city. When he was laid off, he decided to buy a bus or two and start his own company. My father says that it's a good idea, but the government has a lock on bus companies, and won't let private companies transport people around (with the exception of tour buses). Is this true, or would he be able to do what he wants, and start his own transit in the urban area? Or what about this... He teams up with a neighboring county. There are alot of counties that have service into the the county with the big city. Maybe he could team up with some big town or city in that county and drive them to his city. That way, since no company is doing that, he wouldn't have any problems because he wouldn't be competeing with the government, since they don't already have routes.

Would the government stand in the way of a Private Transit Bus Company? My dad and I always are trying to figure out what to do with our futures, so we always discuss business ideas and products. I had an idea for a transit bus company, because the city we live in, Pittsburgh, has Port Authority, and they have been cutting back many routes and services, and I thought we could go to the areas that they cut back from to make the people's lives easier, and not have to worry about driving to work, but take a bus like they used to. My dad thinks that Port Authority of Allegheny County would prevent us from doing this, because they are practical run by the government. He says that they will prevent us from starting this because it will impact on their ridership, and since they are bankrupt right now, they wouldn't want to lose any revenue. Would they be able to do this? If we applied for a grant to research and start a company, would we get the grant, or would most of them say no because Allegheny County already has Port Authority? My dad also says that it won't make money, seeing as how Port Authority can't turn any profit. I say that we could make a profit, but we have to keep it privatized, and not make the same mistakes they did, like getting unions and stuff. Has any bus company, Transit, or Tour Bus company, ever turned a profit after all the expenses and taxes and insurances?

Bus or Car for day trip to Grand Canyon from Las Vegas? I can’t decide whether to visit the South Rim from Las Vegas for the day via a tour (bus) company or rental car. I’ve priced the bus trip at about $180 for two people. Car rental is about $30, excluding gas. My key criteria for selection is time at the Grand Canyon. I have no problem being picked up from my hotel at 8 a.m. and returning to it (in Las Vegas) at 9 p.m. But I’ve heard you can get to the South Rim faster via car, and spend more time there, as opposed to frequent stops by the bus. The only thing that concerns me about rental car is entrance into the Grand Canyon – I’m assuming it’s not expensive to get into the park. Any suggestions? Any route maps to the Grand Canyon via car.

Recommend any good tour company for Italy for a couple? I would like to take my husband to Italy for our 10th anniversary and would like to do it through a tour. The company I would like should be reputable, reliable, won't cramp 50 passengers in a bus for 50 (you know..no extra leg room!), will include all major sightseeing places instead of charging you extra for them, and also would give you tons of free time to explore on your own. Of course, hotels should be centrally located, without the need of being luxurious. I would like something economical, but not hostels. Any suggestions? forgot to add, next summer 2008 probably June.
Italy in December: is there anything I should worry about? I'm going to Italy in December with my Humanities class. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I'm SO glad I'm going on this trip. My school is going through EF Tours, which I'm assuming is a great international tour company, and there are private tour buses, but I won't be leaving my purse behind on the bus because I don't want it stolen. I've backpacked a lot by myself, but don't want to this time. I like tour companies like GAP and Geckos - you get to see a lot of sights, but don't have to plan your entire trip yourself. Also, as a woman, I don't feel comfortable going there alone. The only thing is none of the companies I'm aware of (like GAP, Geckos, Intrepid, etc.) have the exact trip I want. Anybody have an ideas? Any other tour companies you can think of? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is there any bus that goes from Long Island, NY to the Six flag, NJ (or near)? when i meant bus, i meant the tour bus (and its company name) that could possibly go to the six flags in new jersey (or near there) from the Long Island in new york. My friend and i planned to go there for summer but i can't find any transportation T_T HELPPP~~~!! cuz i'm leaving US in July permanently and it's my friend's sweet 16 birthday! THX!

Which tour company is best for a six day tour of central Turkey ? I have already toured Istanbul. On this trip, I want to depart from Istanbul ( by air, not bus) and go to Ephesus and surrounding region, then return to Istanbul by air.
