Amtrak Bus Service Schedules Knowledge Base
Any regularly scheduled direct Reno, Nevada to Las Vegas, Nevada Bus Service? Does anyone know of ANY regularly scheduled direct Reno, Nevada to Las Vegas, Nevada intercity bus service? Amtrak and Greyhound only offer convoluted service via Salt Lake City OR via Sacramento/Los Angeles that takes about 20 hours but nothing direct and it is only about an 8 hour drive. If not anything regularly scheduled, how about any company that offers direct service even once a month/few times a year? Thanks in advance!
Help Getting There - Taxi or Bus to Port Jefferson LIRR (NY)? All right, let me briefly touch on my situation first - I'm going to be 18 in February, and I'm not allowed to live at home anymore. It's not because I'm a bad kid. It's just what has to happen. This isn't what the question is about, so that is all I'll say on the matter. Anyway, I found a place to live upstate. I'm really nervous. I have the Amtrak portion of my trip worked out, but my biggest worry is getting to the LIRR train station. I have NO help from my family whatsoever. Pretend they don't exist when giving me your answer, please. I'm leaving from Rocky Point, NY and need to arrive at the Port Jefferson LIRR station, going to Penn. There are two bus stops that I know of in walking distance, but I never see buses there, nor do I know where they go or if they're even anything more than just a wall of advertisements. I checked the MTA website for bus routes and schedules, but I'm completely lost, this is a foreign language to me. Because I don't really know anything about the bus system in Suffolk County, I considered shelling out what extra money I can for a taxi there. But alas, I haveknow idea how that works too! I don't know how far a cab service will travel to you, how far they will travel, how long it takes them to get a cab ready, FARE rates, etc etc etc. I really would like some help, I'm scared. For this entire thing the only part that scares me to death is messing up this part of the trip. I'm sorry for the wall of text. I know this isn't exactly what you're supposed to do, but if you need further information that I did not provide here please contact the email I have for yahoo answers - tail.fluff@yahoo.com Thanks, any help would be appreciated. And don't give me B.S. answers like "lol u suk dumarse" * I think I may have put this in the wrong section, blah. I have no idea.
Do you support high-speed rail in the USA? I'm not talking light rail or subways within a city. I'm talking trains that take you from one city to the next. If so, do you currently use rail to get around? If not, then why not? Do you know what the rail schedules and prices are in your area? If you don't use rail now why would you use it in the future? I live between Tampa and Orlando Florida. We have voted down both light and high-speed rail many times but the local politicians keep trying to force it on us. I don't think it makes any sense for this area. We currently have rail service available from Amtrak to go from Tampa to Orlando in less than 2 hours for only $10 and NOBODY uses it. The 5 billion dollar high-speed train proposed will only cut 15 minutes off the trip. The big problem is, once you're at the train station in Orlando you have to do several bus transfers to finally get where you want to be. Why would we need a new expensive train when the one we are already subsidizing isn't being used? I could see if Amtrak trains were overloaded with passengers (and they actually made a profit) and there was a need to expand the service to handle demand, but that's simply not the case. Rango - that's what I hear from local politicians... the (car) traffic is heavy so we need to build railroads. How does that make sense? That won't help the car traffic. In fact, years of overpass and cross street construction to allow for the new rails will guarantee traffic on the I-4 corridor will be even worse for the next 10 years. Heavy car traffic indicates the need for more highway infrastructure not a rail line that no one wants and no one will use. The greater Orlando area is over 4,000 square miles with over 2.7 million people. It is very spread out. The central business district is only a very small part of the city. The only major arteries through the city are I-4 and the 417 toll. I-4 backs up because traffic stops in Orlando. They are desperately in need of more feeder roads and bypasses. Think what Houston would be like without 610 and the concentric toll roads around it. ... it's not more "super highways" that are needed. It's more grade level feeders and bypasses to distribute and collect traffic from different parts of the city. I drive through Orlando at least once a month and I can tell you I-4 comes to a complete stop from 7am to 9am and 5pm to 9pm. The rest of the time it's just slow. Unfortunately, it seems the politicians are in bed with the toll companies and won't fix the problem if it cuts into toll revenues.
Bank of America claim statement, do you know of anything else I should say? 1.Type of guaranteed Reservation you canceled: Airline Reservation with Priceline. 2.I did make a reservation with Priceline, which I then tried to cancel on: 07/09/10 the same day of flight and prior to flight departure time. 3.The cancellation request was by: phone Spoke with: Priceline customer service representative 4.Cancellation number I received: None 5.The reason for cancellation: My host was unable to pick me up due to illness at Milwaukee Mitchell Airport. I had arranged for my host to pick me up at (MK) to then be drove to Chicago to stay with my host. I was expected to arrive at 11:11pm and needed transportation to Chicago, IL. My original arrangement with host for transportation was not possible due to hostess illness. This interruption left my with no available transportation at expected time of arrival. The other possible transportation to Chicago were Wisconsin Coach USA Busses, Amtrak trains and Car Rentals if I were eligible, 21 years of age or older. No bus or train routes available at my time of arrival at (MKA). I have printed the schedule details of the Choach USA routes avail from (MKA) to Chicago O’Hare Airport(ORD) and Amtrak train routes from (MKA) to Chicago Union Station (CHI). Since I had no options of transportation (MKA) to (CHI) or (ORD) I needed to cancel my flight reservation with priceline, to resubmit an Airline reservation with an appropriate time of arrival for transportation. Addition Comments: I was aware of concelation fee of priceline Name your own price reservations, however I did purchase Airline Ticket Travel insurance. With the above information I should have been eligible for full refund for the above reasons. I was prevented from taking the flight due to my Host at destination having illness which gave no options of transportation. According to the Travel Arrangement protect I should be eligible for total cost of flight.
