What do the letters in London Bus routes mean? Obviously, all bus routes have a number associated with them and the buses are labelled identifying which route they are on. However, within London, I notice some only consist of numbers; whilst others have letters as well. I figure those marked with an 'N' are there to identify night buses. I have seen other bus routes marked with 'H', 'U', 'C', 'R' and 'RV'. What do these refer to?

What bus routes are bendy? In London, which bus routes are bendy busses? I know there's the 453 and the 25, have you seen anymore?
Do you still have bendy buses in London? I read double deckers with no doors disappeared from most bus routes in London in 2005. Then single-decker bendy buses were introduced to replace them, but many people didn't like them. So London mayor Boris Johnson promised, when he was a candidate for the mayoralty, to withdraw the bendy buses and introduce newly designed double deckers to replace them. All the bendy buses have already been removed from London street by now? Or you still see many or some of them in London?
Can I persuade the London bus route 90 operators to get it to serve the Hayes bingo stop and if so how? The 90 bus no longer serves the bus stop outside the bingo hall in Hayes Middlesex (towards Feltham). TFL say it is too close to where it turns right. Instead of turning right it could continue straight and circle the next roundabout (Ossie Garvin) allowing it to serve 2 other important stops (the Grapes and Lombardy Retail Park). As part of the planning application to Hillingdon Council, the 90 was diverted from Church Road Hayes In order to serve the Lombardy Retail Park (situated at the junction of the Uxbridge Road and Coldharbour Lane) when it was first opened the 90 bus was diverted from Church Road Hayes. There is a large Sainsbury's in the retail park which is far in from the Coldharbour Lane bus stop. This Sainsbury's replaced a smaller but moe convienient one in the main Hayes shopping area which susequently closed. There are a lot of frail and elderly people who find it difficult to walk that far. Many bus users are unable to drive and cannot aford taxis. A large proportion of our Council Tax budget goes to subsidise TFL. My suggested diversion would benefit far more people than it would hinder.
london bus drivers on strike over pay: fair or unfair for the passengers? i want to ask whether you think the majority of london bus drivers are allowed to go on strike because of pay, considering that certain bus services are not running because of this? today, i with many other people were standing out in the cold, waited ages for our bus routes to turn up, only to look at the small poster which said something like t'he following bus routes will not be running from 20- 26 november'. hence, i had to take an alternative bus route and eventually walk home. the bus routes that weren't running were 98 and 113 to name but a couple. i was pissed off that i was standing at the bus stop for two hours- only to realise they were not running. were you one of the many people having to endure a long wait for a bus to turn up? what do you make of the actions of the bus drivers who refused to drive the buses and instead chose to strike? do you believe that when they go on strike they put themselves first over the passengers needs? what is your view on public transport? i wholeheartedly agree that their pay should be increased. but why should they allow their dilemma affect other passengers in the process? yes, they should be allowed to protest- but only at times when they are not on duty, not when they're supposed to be driving the buses and getting people to their destinations
London bus tours - double-decker or regular bus? I've heard that there are some bus routes that cover some of the same tourist areas as the double-decker tourist buses? Can someone suggest some of the best bus routes for sight-seeing and are there tickets you can buy so that you can hop on and off for a few days? Thanks for your help.
Are you tired of abusive london bus drivers? Have you ever been shouted at by a bus driver for no reasons whatsoever? Did ever happen to you to have only a £10 note and the driver refused to let you get on because he "had no change"? Have you ever been verbally abused? Racially offended? Have you had enough of this? I HAVE! There are procedures that drivers do not follow, as when he has not enough change or the ticket machine is broken, prefering to let people out in the rain or in the middle of the night to sort out the problem (find the change or a working ticket machine). Some of them insulte you if you beg for understanding. Yesterday evening I happened to witness an unprovoked racist attack on a easten european customer by a very abusive driver on the 31 route. Every year London buses raises the price of their travel fares, but it seems to me that the service is getting worse. I intend to send to Ken Livingstone a petition, because complaining with the companies seems to have no effect at all. I invite you to send emails with detailed information on your negative experience. It will be sent, together with the signatures I am gathering, to the mayor and very likely a national newspaper. Thank you
Can you take a mountain bicycle onto a bus in London? I need to go fetch a mountain bicycle from someone else in London but would not know how to get back home if I were to cycle it? Would they allow me to take it on the bus for a short route and I will cycle the rest?
Know a good 'bus route' search engine for London? I'm looking to move to London, and need to find areas with good commuter travel to Canary Wharf. While the TFL website is great for inner London/tube travel, it's a bit rubbish when it comes to recognising anything outside that radius. What I'm hoping exists (but haven't found yet) is something where I can indicate a location on a map (I don't have full postcodes, most house sites only show the first half) and it will show me the bus routes that relate to that region/where they go to. Alternatively, anything that recognises village names like Halling, Wrotham, etc and can show me/provide links for bus companies, that will do too Thanks in advance

Where do bus drivers in London get their attitude from? I find bus drivers in London rude and miserable. No please or thank you. They also are very good at curtailing their route early so I have to get off and wait ten minutes for the next bus which is already full to the rafters, yet they never apologise or say why. If you don't like your job, do something else!

Can anyone tell me the best route from Waterloo Station to London Studios? Hi we're going to see a programme being filmed at the London Studios, Upper Ground in London and would like to know the quickest and safest route via foot from Waterloo Station, London. I think that is the closest underground station. If there is a bus route that takes you there I would be grateful if someone could let me know that too as I have kids with me and don't want to get lost! Thanks
What is your view of bus drivers in London.? I have noticed more and more bus drivers in london driving in a way that can be best described as aggressive. Yesterday, I saw a london bus driver, on the 42 route giving some real stick to a woman about buying a ticket even though the bust stop ticket machine was bust. I am concerned these people are responsible for the safety of nearly 100 people, more on those damnable bendy buses. Would you be worried about riding a bus in london? What are your experiences? Thanks to rebecca, I was hoping from comments from drivers as much as the passengers! Goldie, hope you are on the mend. in reply does appreciation come from the fact they drive, or that they drive well. we pay them to drive and stop where they are expected to stop. thats their obligation, getting up and helping you off/on the bus is worthy of appreciation. Arcadia, I have not mentioned about getting off between stops? I'm aware of their basic regulations. I wouldn't expect them to spit out passengers in a adhoc manner, only when they are expected to do so should they stop. I understand a lot of passengers are aggressive, but thats why they have the plastic barrier. the barrier is for their protection, not ours!

Taking the bus in London? Hi there, Im taking the bus for the first time in London so I just wanted to ask: When you want to buy a ticket for a bus in London, do you simply board the bus you would like to take and then purchase a ticket from the driver or do you purchase it from an onboard 'machine'? Do bus drivers stop at every stop in that particular bus' route or do would you have to press the button which signifies the driver to stop? Is there any other information that I would need to know about taking the bus in London?

Essex coaches or buses which go from Essex to London Victoria? Hi there, My Grandmother needs to get a coach or a bus from Thundersley (it's a village in Essex which lies on the Southend - Basildon bus route) to London Victoria in London to see her friend. However we don't know for sure which services there are for this, apparently there is an X-10 (?) service according to my Grandmother which caters for this route however I'm unable to find details of said service. Would anyone have any ideas or info they can give me? Also, please do not suggest trains as my Grandmother dislikes using them. Thanks for any help (and a big ten points for the best answer of course!)

What should I response to Transport for London as I maybe sued failing to produce a vaild oystercard on bus? I was caught by transport policing people on a bus last week becuase I didn't touch my oystercard. I received a letter by them today regarding the case and they said "the facts of this incident are being considered and I must advise you that legal proceedings maybe taken against you." However, the fact in the letter is not correct as the bus route number they mentioned is wrong, therefore, I don't know if I should tell them the correct rount number or I just reply that I didn't take that bus or I should leave it until they take further action. please share if you have experience on the same case. many thanks.

Travelling across London with kids Any tips for getting from Cambridge to Ascot with two young children. Normally go Cambridge > Kings Cross > Underground to Waterloo > Ascot...But i really dont want to take the children on the underground for obvious reasons and because one of my children is still in a pram. Are there any routes avoiding London, or any buses which go directly from Kings Cross to Waterloo (which I can take a buggy on)? Thanks very much! Anyone want a flatshare in South London £450pm + bills and council tax? My flatemate told me she is moving out today, so i am looking for a new flatmate from the 17th June (neg). I am an easy-going 28 year old guy, seeking male or felmale professional to share a 2 double bedroom flat in the prestigious development of Brockwell Gate between Brixton and Herne Hill - SW2 2YG. The flat has 2 bathrooms and is on a recent development. It is an 8 minute walk to Brixton Underground and Herne Hill & Tulse Hill Thameslink Stations. The West End, London Bridge, Wimbledon and Victoria can all be reached in 20 mins. It is well served by bus routes and has Brockwell Park behind the property with a swimming pool (Lido), tennis courts and running routes etc. The room is centrally heated and can be furnished or unfurnised.
is it time we got rid of bendy buses from London? Since they were introduced under 5 years ago there has been over 5 major fires involving these types of buses and now a death after a person was dragged for over a mile under a route 25. They are also the single most reason why streets gets blocked due to drivor error resalting in the bendy bus getting stuck and taking an hour to get moving again.
What do you think of London buses? I personnally dont drive a car......But use public transport to get to and from work everyday, which at times can take near 2 hours for an half hour journey!!! and thats the quickest route....... Mr Ken has this big idea that he wants to cut down on the fuel in london by putting money up on taxes, congestion charge etc, yet he will bump up the prices on travel to £2.00 per trip!!!! Dont you think this is just too much? Is Ken just a waste of time being Mayor.....? I even had my own mother injure herself on a bus last week because the bus driver was so dangerous hit on her brakes hard and my mum got flung forward causing damage..... do you think bud drivers should be investigated like all other drivers INCLUDING SPEEDING!!!!!! dont deny it bus drivers they all do it....... They even have the cheek to go on stike to ask for more money..... Maybe they should pay passengers to travel on their buses!!! Just think your putting your life in their hands!!!
Rhh Dudes & Dudettes....? How do you get to school/ work in the morning? and What did you listen to on the way there and back? best way to get from Dublin to London without flying? I'm trying to go from Dublin to London in the next few days. I don't want to fly because my luggage is WAY overweight. Does the ferry to Liverpool still allow foot passengers? That might be a good excuse to go and visit liverpool, then take a bus from there... Any other suggestions? I'm on student budget so would prefer an inefficient but cheap route:-)
