Greyhound Bus Line Schedule Bus Lines Knowledge Base
Are there any other bus lines available in the US besides Greyhound? I sure can't find any!!? My friend just finished training for the military, and he gets a short time at home before he is deployed. I want to visit him in that span of time, but he lives in another state (apparently 5 hours away by Greyhound) and I have no car. I was planning on taking a bus down there for the day, but the Greyhound bus schedule has me arriving there at 1:35 pm and departing at 3:00!! Not going to cut it. Are there any other buses I could take that might have a different schedule? Please help me out!!! Thanks guys. I tried all those places, but none of them left from Michigan. And the train had me going from detroit to Chicago THEN to south bend, arriving me at like, 9 at night. Any other suggestions?
Are there any alternatives to Greyhound bus lines for Michigan? I'm planning on visiting my friend in Pennsylvania sometime this week or next week and the only available bus schedule they have is for Sunday and that involves a 4 and a half hour layover in Pittsburg which makes my mom nervous so I can't do that. Well my friend called and they told her that's the only one they have avaiable from Michigan to PA through October. So that won't work. Does anyone know of an alternative to Greyhound for my trip? I can't do Amtrak that's too expensive so any other bus lines? Or maybe trying another location in Michigan would help? I live in Chesterfield Michigan but the closest stations are in either Port Huron Michigan or Detroit Michigan, probably Detroit. And my friend lives in Cresson PA but the closest station to her is Altoona Pennsylvania.
How can I get my revenge at Greyhound bus lines? The last time I travelled, I bought a round trip ticket to visit a friend for the day. The departing bus was 45 minutes late. The return bus was an hour late, and the driver let a bunch of people (who didn't even have tickets) board, and there wasn't a single seat lest for me and 5 other people who also had tickets. The driver said he had no idea when or if another bus would come. An hour later a bus comes, and the driver doesn't let anyone on. Eventually my friend has to drive down to the bus station, pick me up and drive me 90 minutes home himself. Whenever I try to get a refund, I'm told to talk to a manger who usually isn't there- eventually I find someone in charge and he flat out refuses to give me a refund- and if I had a problem with that, he'd have me removed from the station and/or charged with trespassing! In the past 4 years I've probably taken 30 trips with Greyhound, and each bus has been late- and not just a little late. O.K. I'm lying- one bus started to leave early because the driver figured no one else was coming- luckily I chased him down. Once a driver just didn't show up for work and no one bothered to replace him- I couldn't make it to my destination, but still had to pay for my hotel because I couldn't cancel with 24 hours notice. I tried to take the next scheduled bus and booked another hotel in a different town- the bus didn't show up, and I have to cancel another hotel that I still have to pay for! I've been stuck in depots for 12 hours while the staff kept assuring me and everybody else that our bus was coming 'any minute now'. I've been stuck outside a closed station for 10 hours in the middle of Winter waiting for buses that never came- I found a number for their dispatch once and got yelled at because it was supposed to be a private number- and no, no one did squat to help me. They even lost my guitar, and when I filed a claim, they told me musical instruments are no insured- even when the driver said I couldn't carry it with me! Well believe me, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I could fill a book with all the Greyhound horror stories I've suffered- but I think you get the picture. So dear readers, what is a good (and legal) way to get back at this heartless monopoly that has destroyed so many of my budget attempts at vacations? This is mainly Greyhound in Canada, though I have no shortage of horror stories from the U.S.! Most of the time I'm travelling through the interior of B.C.- Kelowna, Revelstoke, Kamloops etc. I could not find any other bus service on these routes. There is a hop on/hop off company but it is too expensive and doesn't go when/where I need to go. Paranoid? Look dude, every thing I wrote happened. I exaggerated nothing- in fact this is just a small sample of my Greyhound nightmares. Passengers without tickets are allowed at stops where there is no depot or it is closed- and there are a lot of those!
Greyhound (Bus) Questions? I've never taken the Greyhound before, and this is going to be my first time I will have gone on it. I have a couple of questions that I can't seem to find answers to and I'd like to hear from someone who has EXPERIENCE from riding the Greyhound. For the last two weeks my mother has been harassing me about security check points and baggage. We want to know; is this going to be something like at the airport where I have to stand in line, take my shoes off and watch someone go through my bag? Do I need to call and verify that my tickets (I bought them online and they were mailed to me over a month ago) and bus schedule are still the same? And does it matter what station I go to? I've spoken to a woman that's familiar with the Greyhound and although her last trip was over 10 years go, she said security is easy and that they just check your ticket and ID. And that apparently (where we live) there is only ONE station we can go to. I couldn't find any information at the website, short of a number and I can't exactly talk right now since I lost my voice. Answers please?
I need advice, First time taking a greyhound bus!? I'm taking a greyhound bus in a couple days and I've never taken one before, I'm looking for anything from general advice to personal experiences. How much time should I arrive before the bus is scheduled to leave? I'm hoping I will be able to print my tickets at home so I won't have to stand in line, but do I still have to stand in line to get my luggage tags? And how much luggage are you allowed to bring? If I'm just bringing carry on do I still need luggage tags? Thank you so much to anyone that can answer just one these questions!!! :-D
Is it impractical for a taxi to make a six-hour drive across state lines? I have no car, Greyhound bus schedule does not coordinate with mine, I'm under 21 so I cannot legally rent a car, and the only airport near my university only makes flights to two cities. My boyfriend is in the same situation. My boyfriend lives a 6 hour drive from my university, and unless I am able to find a way to go see him, we won't be able to see each other for several months at a time. :( Does anyone know whether it's entirely impractical (or even legal?) to have a taxi driver drive you for 6 hours over state lines?
I need to get from St Louis MO to Keokuk IA by bus. Greyhound doesn't have a direct link. How do I do this? When I search for a bus from St Louis to Keokuk (or Mt Pleasant or any area in that part of Iowa) I get this message... "The schedule you requested is not available online. This situation may be due to a route not served by Greyhound Lines, or a restriction in place that does not allow Greyhound to offer another carrier's schedule information online." Does anyone know what bus company DOES serve the St Louis to Iowa routes? I'm from New York and am flying into St Louis on the 30th and have to be in Iowa on the morning of the 31st. I've tried googling bus systems and transit in St Louis but am only getting info for their regional Metro Link transit and no bus companies that have routes into Iowa. Thanks so much!
trying to get to nova scotia from new york by bus (direct if possible)? I'm looking for a bus line that will take me from new york to nova scotia, (halifax, specifically) direct. I hear greyhound sends buses north of the border, but I have not been able to find schedules for these buses on their website. any information regarding direct bus lines to nova scotia would be much appreciated.
Greyhound bus, first time, travel questions? Alright, Ill be taking the greyhound bus in about a 2 weeks from the new Milwaukee terminal, to Cleveland Ohio, with a layover in Chicago for 50 minutes at 11am. I scheduled it to go through Chicago in daylight hours (for obvious reasons) I dont want to know about how I should take megabus, or fly, Im going greyhound bottom line. Its my first time ever traveling alone or not by car. I have my tickets in hand from the mail. What I would like to know from those who have actually taken greyhound before is: How long in advance should I get there? Do I really need an hour, or do I need more time? How do I "check" my baggage? Is it mandatory to get off at a stop that has a 30 min layover if its not a transfer? How big can a carry on bag be? I know these are basic questions, but like I said, Ive never flown or travelled commercially before, so the whole process is kinda new and Id like to at least know what to do so theres less hassle later. Thanks in advanced! =D

How do I get from LAX to Bakersfield? I will be flying into LAX to visit a sick friend. They can't drive, so I need to find a way to get from LAX to Bakersfield. I do prefer public transit. As a former Jefferson Lines (greyhound type route) driver, I know how bad some of them are and try not to ride schedule buses like greyhound. Is there a closer place to catch a Southwest flight to and get to Bakersfield? Are their commuter flights to bakersfield?
Denver to Casper by bus? Does anyone know what bus company goes between Denver and Casper? I tried Greyhound, but got this message: The schedule you requested is not available online. This situation may be due to a route not served by Greyhound Lines, or a restriction in place that does not allow Greyhound to offer another carrier's schedule information online. They say to call them, but it would cost a fortune from my mobile phone (in Europe). I haven't been able to find the name of the other carrier they mention. Does the Amtrak route not run anymore either?
Can someone please help me figure out transit plans? Here's what I want to do: Travel from St. Louis, MO in the evening/night (or, if it has to be, in the afternoon) on Friday, June 29 to Mishawaka, IN (near South Bend, IN, about 90 miles east of Chicago), arriving in Mishawaka by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30. Then I need to travel from Mishawaka, leaving no earlier than 4:30 p.m., to get to Kansas City, MO by 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 1. I've looked at schedules on Greyhound and Amtrak, and I've done Google searches for other bus and train lines, but none of them have times that work. (Some have times that work for getting me to South Bend, but then the bus or train doesn't leave until much later after 4:30 p.m. and wouldn't get me to Kansas City in time.) Please, can someone tell me a bus line or train line that has a schedule that works with this or give me tips on how to search for one? Also, I need to know how to get between South Bend and Mishawaka (I don't think major lines go to Mishawaka.) I need an answer a.s.a.p.! Thanks!
What are the destination restrictions for the greyhound discovery Pass? I'm thinking of buying a Greyhound Discovery pass. I've taken greyhound for years and always enjoyed the experience. The first time I will probably go with just a 7 day pass for 199$. I've checked out the Dicovery Pass website and have the cities written down where you can actually validate your pass from. My question is if you can only travel between these places when using greyhound. I've checked my desired routes to make sure they are all served by the Greyhound or their Interline partners for each destination. Here is a sample of my itinerary: Pick up Discovery pass from Richmond Virginia. Leave from Williamsburg VA to New Orleans, LA (spend day in NO) Leave New Orleans to Rapid City South Dakota (Spend Night) Leave Rapid CIty to Bozemann Montana (Spend night) Possibly pick up more tickets in Billings MT, if needed) Leave Bozeman MT to Vancouver Canada (Spend Day, maybe night if time available) Leave Vancouver to San Fransisco Home THis is just a sample itinerary. I may have to tweak the schedule a little to fit it all in to 7 days. Who knows, I may go for 15 days. I just want to be sure I'd be able to use the pass for destinations not listed on their website as places you can validate the passes themselves from. South Dakota doesn't appear to be on the list but Jefferson Lines, the bus that partners with greyhound is listed as a supported interline carrier. If anyone could help my out that has had experience with the Discovery pass, I would appreciate it. From what I understand about it, you either pick up tickets to a certain destination at each stop or you can choose to get an entire coupon book. Unfortunately it's not the same as Canada's version where you just flash the pass to the driver. Thanks. I just talked to Greyhound and it seems all my destinations are covered. The list of Select cites are only where you can buy the initial pass itself. Once you get the pass or have it mailed to you, then you can leave from anywhere within their route structure. As long as the route is served by a Greyhound carrier or their interline partners.
Please help me figure out transit plans so I can see Emerson from Mugglenet on his book tour!? It is not the wrong category because Emerson is the founder of Mugglenet, a Harry Potter fansite. Harry Potter is a book and a MOVIE.

Is there any public transpotation from Greeley, CO to Denver or Boulder? I will be moving to Greeley next summer for school and have family in the Boulder area. I am not planning on having a car, as my grad school tuition will eat up any and all income I have. Is there any form of public transportation (regional rail lines, buses, etc.) that run from Greeley into Denver or Boulder? I saw on Greyhound's website that there may be a Greyhound stop in Greeley, but could not find any schedules or fares. Does anyone know how much a ticket on that would cost? Thanks so much to anyone who can help!
